Future Programme
- This centre has already started producing exercise books as a part of a product diversification programme. Although in the initial period, it had to face a stiff competition in the market, its product is gaining popularity because of better quality and competitive price. The production capacity has also been increased by adding raw machinery. It has also to set up a separate plant in its central at Bhaktapur office.
- Apart from product diversification, this centre has also plants in the pipe line to print textbooks in multicolour, specially the books for primary grades.
- This centre has a plan to establish a Regional Printing Press in Nepalgunj in near future. After the operation of this press, it is hoped that the preparation and distribution of the required textbooks in the mid-west and far-western region will be complete before the new session starts.
- This centre is going to produce comfortable school-bags for school-going children to keep books safe and sound.
- To cope up with the ever increasing demand of textbooks, this centre also has to increase its efficiency. For this UNICEF and JICA have granted some spare parts for repairing old machines. DANIDA is also granting assistance to this centre for modernizing and enhancing the efficiency of this organization.
Conclusion
The press which came into existence in the form of a small Educaton Press in its inception period, has now turned out to be a big publishing house. It produces about 22 million of Textbooks per year. Actually it is a matter of satisfaction in the field of textbook printing. But yet, this centre has to update by introducing new printing technology to meet the ever increasing demand of textbooks. We hope, as in the past, JEMC will be able to accomplish its responsibility in the future too.
